loop/recur - dev and design agency
My previous SF based botique development shop
Overview
loop/recur was a design/development shop specializing in web development and iOS apps. Founding members include co-founder Brian Lonsdorf, lead designer Mikey Casalaina, senior engineer Ryan Charette, and myself.
In ~7 years of existence, we worked on some pretty incredible projects with clients like Netgear, Disney, GameStop, Denso, Ipsos, Mod, Planned Parenthood, and Salesforce.
We specialized in taking projects from drawing board to production application. From initial design and prototyping to production hosting, a one-stop shop.
NOTE: Most of this copy is from the old website if you’re wondering about the tense.
Sample Projects
Forward - Design & Development
Forward is a bi-yearly Bay Area tech conference and online educational series focused on JavaScript and Swift, co-founded by loop/recur’s Taylor Smith. In just 3 years, Forward has grown into a well-known conference, with thousands of attendees and well-known sponsors like Microsoft, Mozilla, salesforce, PayPal, wework, and Dolby. loop/recur has done all the design and web development for Forward from the start.
Ipsos - Web Design & Development
For market-research giant, Ipsos, loop/ recur built a sophisticated tool allowing IPSOS’s researchers, their marketing clients, and 3rd-party marketing teams to share and iterate on insights related to how brands are perceived in the market. This project was wildly successful and is in use by companies like Unilever, L’oréal, GSK VW, P&G, Absolut, and Bayer.
Mod - Web & iOS Development
Mod is an ambitious coworking space with locations in Phoenix and San Francisco, with big plans to expand (recently featured in Bloomberg Technology). Via back-facing apps built by loop/recur, the staff manages tasks, communicates with guests and offers above-average service and incredible food. Then, with apps for iPhone and Apple Watch, guests can place orders, make reservations, chat with staff, and keylessly enter the Mod locations.
Denso Dashboard App
Denso, a $40 billion automotive parts company brought on loop/recur to design and develop a prototype in-dashboard car app. This prototype led to Denso’s team getting a round of funding of over $2 million dollars to continue it’s efforts. Here, you see a demo of how loop/recur’s dashboard tablet design could interact with Denso’s engine-status computer.
Get Real: Comprehensive Sexual Education That Works
Web Design & Development for Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts While Planned Parenthood’s approach to sex-ed, Get Real, is thoroughly modern, their previous method of delivering content involved a lot of xerox copies. They contacted loop/recur create 21st-century tools for teenagers, their parents/guardians, educators, as well as researchers at Wellesley Centers for Women who are monitoring the program and its results to prove its effectiveness. loop/recur built the front-facing totally responsive site for parents and teens, as well as comprehensive back-end reports to monitor the program.
RGreenways - App for iOS
RGreenways is the outdoor guide that’s miles ahead of traditional trail maps. Navigate the many public greenways available in the greater Raleigh-Durham area with ease! Combining data from multiple towns, RGreenways puts the entire system at your fingertips. Parking, water, and restroom locations can be added to the maps to make your greenway experience even better. We worked with Oak City Apps
Proud Moment
“This is great. Thank you much for following up and for the RGreenways update. It is the best technology we have currently to help people navigate the system.Much appreciated!” ~ Raleigh City Parks and Rec
